Aircraft Paint Facility Overview

Our aircraft painting facility is equipped with environmental controls, modern equipment and fire protection systems to ensure your aircraft is in good hands when you leave it with our team. We use a variety of paints developed specifically for aviation use, including polyurethane, enamel, zinc chromate, and water bases, and our processes are ISO 9001-certified and compliant with all federal and state safety regulations.

We have three hangars—Prep Hangar, Maintenance Hangar, and Spray Booth Hangar—that aircraft move through during their time at ArtCraft Paint.

First, your aircraft enters the inspection area, where it undergoes a thorough intake inspection to document the current state of your aircraft and identify any additional work needed prior to painting. It is here that your aircraft’s seams are taped, and all prep work happens (such as removing and masking the windshield and windows) and paint stripper is applied.

Once your plane’s paint is stripped, a post-stripe inspection is completed and your aircaft’s bodywork begins in the preparation area. This is where dents, scratches, and other exterior blemishes are taken care of.

This is where the magic happens! We spend the bulk of the time that your aircraft is with us doing prep work before painting. We look for every, and we mean EVERY, ding, scratch, and dent, and work to make your aircraft’s body look near perfect before painting.

We use platform lifts that can move the length and width of the hangar to improve efficiency and keep your aircraft moving safely throughout the entire refurbishment process so you can get back in the skies as quickly as possible.

In the paint area, we set up flexible bays that we change based on the aircraft size. Our painting bays can be as small as 20×40’ or as large as 150×150’. These isolated paint booths provide a particle-free space where your aircraft is painted using an electrostatic paint system that limits overspray and increases painting efficiency. We also use air purifiers for maximum air filtration and nearly particle-free air quality in both our component painting booths and body painting booths.
