ArtCraft to AirVenture for the 13th Year!
Our ArtCraft EAA AirVenture Recap
ArtCraft Paint and its members are steeped in tradition and our favorite tradition is flying from the Santa Maria airport to Oshkosh, WI to attend the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) AirVenture! While the majority of our time at AirVenture 2021 was spent at our booth meeting all the wonderful AirVenture attendees and talking shop, we still managed to experience a crazy spectrum of Wisconsin’s weather, drink the sought-after Spotted Cow (only available in Wisconsin!), and munch on cheese curds. According to our very own, Teresa Arredondo, once you start coming to EAA you are never going to stop!
Why We Love EAA So Much…
If you know anyone at ArtCraft Paint, you know we are all about family. For us, AirVenture is like one big family reunion! Seeing all the aircraft that we have worked on over the years, hearing the stories from the pilots and their journeys and memories that their aircraft has taken them on is truly inspirational.

Speaking of family, the one and only icon Clay Lacy stopped by. Many may know of Clay as the founder and CEO of Clay Lacy Aviation, but we know Clay as family. If you ever run into our fearless leader Teresa, she has some unbelievable stories to tell about the history of Clay Lacy Aviation and ArtCraft Paint. Stop in with a Paloma and we are sure she would love to share a few stories!
While family is such a big part of our experience at AirVenture 2021, we can’t discount the other memorable moments – from the crazy weather to the amazing fireworks display on Saturday to the stunning aerobatic planes, paragliders and so much more. We also loved seeing the different aircraft paint design schemes and colors throughout the grounds, especially some of the past work we have done in the experimental section.
Talking Shop – Our biggest request during EAA
While munching on cheese curds, visiting with friends, and icons like Clay Lacy are a huge part of our experience, it wouldn’t be an AirVenture without talking shop a bit. While ArtCraft Paint owners and operators are familiar with the craftsmanship and quality that we deliver with our exterior aviation painting services, at this year’s show we fielded a ton of questions about our interior refurbishing services on general aviation, corporate/ charter, and government aircraft.
With over 40 years of experience doing interior repair and renewal, we had no problem fielding aircraft owner questions about changing out flooring, doing upholstery work, revamping old cabinets, or doing a full-blown interior refresh.
Until 2022!
With 12 years under our belt at EAA’s AirVenture in Oshkosh, we are already looking forward to next year’s AirVenture, meeting family and friends, talking a bit of shop, and maybe even having a brat.
